So right now I should be writing a paper that is due tomorrow for my lit. class, but blogging, or rather tumbling, seems exponentially more appealing. This past weekend I went to Budapest (correctly pronounced Buda-pesht)! It was amazing. I went with my good ol’ Northeastern gal pals Carly, Brittany & Chelsea. We stayed in a hostel that was not like your modern fancy shmancy hostels you find throughout western Europe, but it was dec (pronounced like geese but with a “d”). Wow, Carly’s abbrev-ing is totes startin’ to rub off on me. Whatevs. So even though our hostel was apparently in the red light district, aka Shades Village (yet another brilliant Carly-ism), and we were almost certain we were going to get taken several times throughout the trip, Budapest was absolutely magical! It has a much different vibe to it than Prague or Krakow because it used to be part of the Ottoman Empire, which was controlled by the Turks, thus it’s an eastern European, post-Communist city with a Turkish touch. This meant for some changes/variety in food like hummus and falafel. My inner fat/phat girl, Beth, was on an unstoppable rampage. It was fabulous. We also randomly ate at a Pizza Hut, which are apparently fine dining establishments in Hungary. No really, I’m not kidding. The place was a legit sit down restaurant with a full menu. They even had advertisements with beautiful people sitting eating pizza and drinking red wine. But no matter how classy they tried to make Pizza Hut seem, it was still Pizza Hut to me and I couldn’t help but have flashbacks of scarfing down an individual size pizza from the Pizza Hut in Curry Student Center in between classes or a study session. We also did the baths, which were great. As I think most people can understand, there’s just something about public pools that sort of gross me out, but as soon as we stepped outside in the low 40 degree windy weather in just our bathing suits, we were all about those natural hot spring water baths. And at least they put chlorine in the outdoor pools. Thank god because I def left my mark in one of them because I was too lazy to get out and walk in the cold to the bathroom…if you catch ma drift. Those are most of the major highlights of the trip and now I really should be getting back to my paper. My kamaradkas Leyna & Andalusia will be visiting me in Praha for this Easter weekend so I’m sure there will be much to tumble about sometime next week. Until then bitches,
